Conference Overview

Guided by President Xi Jinping's important instructions on China–Africa digital cooperation, the 2026 China–Africa Digital Capacity Building Cooperation Conference aims to give further substance to the all-weather China–Africa community with a shared future for the new era. It will implement the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Action Plan (2025-2027) and the Action Plan for China-Africa Digital Cooperation and Development, deepen strategic coordination and industry exchanges, and generate tangible outcomes in the lead-up to the 10th FOCAC Ministerial Conference in 2027.

The conference will foster a China–Africa digital industry ecosystem in which enterprises of all sizes can work together to expand into African markets and accelerate the implementation of digital cooperation projects. By sharing China's experience in digital development and advanced, practical technologies, it will help African partners strengthen their digital capacity and promote shared development and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Binjiang is at the heart of Hangzhou’s digital economy. The China Digital Valley Building and the Internet of Things Industrial Park are among the district’s technology landmarks, alongside a strong concentration of companies working in artificial intelligence, data and smart connected technologies.

Tianyan Future Planet

Created by Zoland Animation, this cultural-tourism attraction is billed as China’s first fully AI-powered immersive experience built around a home-grown animation IP. It brings Chinese animation culture together with AI-driven digital technology.

Xixing Old Street and Changhe Old Street

These historic streets preserve traditional crafts and a rich cultural heritage, including Xixing lantern-making, and offer a glimpse of Hangzhou’s festive traditions and Jiangnan market-town culture.

City landmarks

The central axis links the Civic Center, Hangzhou Grand Theatre, Hangzhou International Conference Center—known locally as the ‘Big Golden Ball’—and the City Balcony. Its design draws on the architectural motifs of the sun and moon shining together, and of a round sky above a square earth.

Cultural experience

The Qianjiang New City light show is one of Hangzhou’s signature evening experiences. It uses the façades of surrounding buildings to bring together themes of city, water, light and shadow; the City Balcony is an excellent place to watch after dusk.

New landmark

Jianghehui Bridge, in Phase II of Qianjiang New City, is a sculptural Z-shaped arch bridge inspired by the threading of a needle in Hangzhou embroidery. It offers evening views over the confluence of the Qiantang River and the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal.
