Zero-Tariff Measure Adds Momentum to China-Africa Trade and Investment

China's zero-tariff treatment for all 53 African diplomatic partners lowers market-entry costs for products including cocoa, coffee, avocados, citrus and wine.
China's commerce authorities explained the implementation of the measure. Thirty-three African least-developed countries already received similar treatment, while the new arrangement extends coverage to the remaining 20 partners.
The policy can reduce import costs for agricultural products and selected manufactured goods while creating more predictable conditions for investment and supply-chain cooperation. Results will also depend on access procedures, logistics, standards and business matchmaking.
