Chinese-language teaching will enter Ethiopia's national education system through joint work on curricula, materials, local teachers and university programs.
The education ministries of China and Ethiopia signed an agreement in Addis Ababa that formally incorporates Chinese-language education into Ethiopia's national system. Existing Confucius Institutes and a Luban Workshop have already trained many local learners.
Over the next five years, cooperation will cover education planning, curricula, teaching materials and local teacher development, as well as Chinese degree programs at eligible universities to support study, employment and cultural exchange.
