China and Namibia Expand Cooperation on Digital Transformation and Innovation
China and Namibia agreed to build a closer community with a shared future and identified digital transformation, AI, e-commerce, smart infrastructure and innovation ecosystems as priorities for the next stage of cooperation.
During President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's state visit to China, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral ties and international and regional issues of common concern. Their joint statement reviewed the steady growth of political trust and practical cooperation since diplomatic relations were established.
The development agenda covers energy, mining, local processing of raw materials, agriculture, science and technology, education and infrastructure. It also explicitly includes digital transformation, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, smart infrastructure and innovation ecosystems to support Namibia's transition toward a knowledge economy.
Both countries said they would continue implementing outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and use the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges to broaden cooperation in education, culture, tourism, youth and media.
