China-Aided ECOWAS Headquarters Opens in Abuja
The new ECOWAS headquarters has entered service, bringing institutions into a modern shared campus and creating a platform for regional integration, public administration and multilateral cooperation in West Africa.
The China-aided headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States was inaugurated in Abuja. Representatives from Nigeria, Sierra Leone as the ECOWAS chair, and China described the project as a symbol of regional unity and shared development.
The complex includes an approximately 800-seat conference center and supporting office facilities for interpretation, press briefings, training and multipurpose meetings. It is designed to make coordination among ECOWAS institutions more efficient.
Participants also framed the building as a FOCAC cooperation outcome and a base for future work on regional trade, connectivity, the digital economy, green development and food security.
