On June 30, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria H.E. Yu Dunhai met with Nigerian Foreign Minister H.E. Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
Ambassador Yu congratulated Foreign Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu on assuming her new office. He noted that China and Nigeria enjoy a time-honoured friendship. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the China–Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to gain strong momentum, delivering fruitful outcomes in mutually beneficial cooperation and serving as a model for China–Africa and South–South cooperation. As we commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the China–Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, China stands ready to work with Nigeria to further consolidate political mutual trust, deepen strategic communication, expand practical cooperation, fully capitalize on the zero-tariff policy dividends, and jointly write a new chapter in the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Foreign Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressed gratitude for China’s long-standing contributions to Nigeria’s economic and social development. She reaffirmed Nigeria’s firm adherence to the one-China principle, stating that Nigeria regards China as a priority cooperation partner. Nigeria is willing to work hand in hand with China to elevate the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to higher levels and deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
